Based on an article in The Malaysian Insider which can be found here, a total of 67 cases were recorded in 2005, 83 cases in 2006, 76 in 2007, 102 in 2008, and 79 in 2009. Although the number of cases reported about baby dumping decreased from 102 cases in 2008 to 79 in 2009, the number of cases are looking to increase substantially in the year 2010 and 2011. Moreover, the number of cases is not looking to drop and more babies are suffering the terrible fate of not being loved by the people who brought them to this world.
Another statistic made by Seminar Kaunseling Keluarga, Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai Johor shows that most cases happen around town areas such as Selangor and Johor whereas places that practices traditional style of living has the lowest cases of baby dumping.
